Did you know ALMONDS Alkalize the blood, all other nuts acidify, 75% of the daily diet should be based on alkaline foods. One handful of almonds taken regularly is an ideal way to ensure proper nerve functioning, nerve transmission, and correct muscular and glandular activity. Almonds are a very good source on magnesium, this is the mineral that is most deleted by alcohol and cigarettes. Almonds also provide a correct balance of the mineral phosphorus which is essential for mental ability and digestion of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. A healthy heart and healthy bones are achieved from having almonds, as they are the best nut-source of calcium. It is also a rich source of Vitamin E which again is excellent for the heart and muscle vitality, and effective blood circulation. For healthy skin, hair and nerves, almonds will supply the necessary essential B group vitamins and are especially rich in Niacin-B3. For those of you who have chosen to be vegetarian, it is helpful to know that almonds are a rich source of protien. They supply over 18% complete protien and when combined with brazil and cashew nuts, their protien availability-N.P.U., improves over 25%. So therefore if a person weighing around 70kg took a handfull of mixed almonds,brazil and cashews (150gms), they would obtain their daily requirement of protien. Ayurveda considers almonds to be the best of all nuts, it is warming in nature and relieves stagnant qui energy of the lungs. The methond of grinding almonds to a powder and mixing with water to make an almond drink is very beneficial for anyone with lung conditions such as asthma, as it transforms phlegm and alleviates cough. Caution: Almonds can exacabate phlegm if the person displays damp signs such as sluggishness, edema or a thick greasy coating on the tongue.
